TWELVE
The RV rolled to a stop. âOkay, we hit a zone,â Barry announced. âLooks like maybe twenty or thirty.â
âWhere are we at?â Rigs asked.
âHannibal, Illinois. Itâs right up ahead.â
âOh,â Sandy said chipper. âHome of Mark Twain. We should stop. They have a museum.â
âI donât have it cleared,â said Rigs, then looked to New Guy. âDo you?â
He shook his head. âLetâs take them out, maybe see Mark Twainâs home.â
âSee, now, that sounds like a good idea?â Rigs stood. âRach, top side of ground?â
New Guy answered before she did. âIâll take top. I mean if thatâs okay.â
âSure.â Rigs shrugged. âYou got it. Kasper. Ready?â
Kasper emerged from the back. He carried a spear, Arrows, and aside from a rifle, he also carried a gladius. âYeah.â
âWatch your ammunition everyone,â Rigs said. âWe have weeks before we get more.â He moved to the door. âSandy, hang tight, keep the doors latched.â
She gave a thumbs up and sat on the couch. âIâll watch from here.â
âBarry, youâre on door duty, keep them away,â Rigs instructed. âRach and Kasper youâre with me up front.â
âGot it,â Rachel said.
âNew Guy,â Rigs said. âDespite what you wanted, you now just learned everyoneâs name. You first because youâre topside.â
New Guy grabbed his bag and shouldered it and moved to the door.
âLetâs go,â Rigs said. âLetâs get this cleared.â
New Guy left first, followed by Rachel.
Kasper paused before he stepped out. âHey, uh, Rigs? Whoâs Mark Twain?â
They all had walked out and Sandy secured the doors on the RV, she then took a seat on the front couch to watch, but before she did, she grabbed that Senior Lady magazine.
